Reedyberg – I’m not sure you realise the amount of effort and the cost of this event. This isn’t just a ‘hand it to them and go’ we have made great effort to make it interesting and worth the ticket price. You get a free programme and free drinks and refreshments, as well as a live brass band and singers. Its going to be a very nice evening. something to remember. It’s not a bad price if u ask me. I read in the paper the other day that it was £10 to watch some dancers with nothing free.

End of the day if you feel its to expensive then feel free not to go, but please don’t put down something you don’t know the hard work and what the people who are going are receiving. I don’t wish to be rude, but i don’t think that you should be.

Thanks for your opinion Roddy, though i don’t intend to take things any further than i have already. This post is the end of it as far as i am concerned. We all have better things to do.Especially all the staff that are preparing for next Friday.

I think that you have every right to sue the newspaper as the original instructions were to include wells and that fact being left out or taken out caused the second event that will cost even more, legally speaking I think they should publish an apology to you and the rest of the helpers and be willing to pay for the new event. Also I think if they refuse that they should be sued for everything the first event is worth as it is their duty to print accurate news, and in failing to do so they have committed a false statement or fraud on the public and hence should be sentenced by the law for that!

I am one of the award winners. I have been speaking with Alex for a few months now. When he first approached me he was very kind and sounded very passionate about his work he called me one evening when he was working late on his script and he spent nearly an hour talking with me about my part in the awards and what i had done to get it. I think that if anything we should be showing our appreciation. I am forever thankful to alex and his staff

@ Reedyberg – I think you will find my attitude towards everyone is far from exceptional. Everyone has “short moments” but i certainly cant think of any i have had. The only schools i have visited which i will not name, one i did mention my concern when i was told no one was coming to support the lady they had nominated. Now tell me if thats good! In regards to how this event should be “FREE” you must be a little under educated. This event is costing 100′s pounds, thanks to our sponsors and the tickets we are able to run this project. Do you think the Hall, awards, band, singers, scripts, programmes, flowers, balloons, buttonholes, props, food, drink and every other little detail is free. What about the countless hours i put in for free. I would suggest you do your research before knocking the hard work of me and my team. Who by the way do it all for free.

I think the attitude of the organisers is disgusting.
How can it be an event for the community when the organiser turns up at a local school and is very rude to the receptionist because they will not pay for a ticket for his “community event”.
Maybe Mr Maine should follow the example of the Central Somerset Gazette’s Sporting Heroes, I was lucky enough to be at the presentation night and it was great,

And free, not a money-making exercise, just a reward for local people who put a great deal of effort into life in Mid Somerset.

Well done to the Mid Somerset News team and especially Sports ed Clare for making it all happen

I think the newspapers attitude is disgusting, after all this is an event run by you for the local community and therefore you have the right to say where is included in that, obviously Philip was trying to sell this off as a newspaper run event so he only wanted to include areas that the central somerset gazette is delivered to. I think you might be well shot of them to be honest.

This has been long deserved. The paper has been doing what they wish for too long. Any conditions or restrictions we have placed have been ignored if they prefer them to be different. It’s about time that they learn they can’t do what they wish.
Personally I think that a paper should support the community in all cases not just when it sells papers.
I’m very disapointed.
