Red Nose Day 2009

09Good Morning and Happy Red Nose Day. I woke up this morning expecting to find loads of fundraisers taking place across mid somerset but so far all i have found is a few pub nights out in the sticks and a naked man… Well i must say it was not quite what i was expecting. Anyway no matter, we have our red noses and instead of be being cheap and taking a photograph with my red nose i bought a digital one from www.digitalrednose.com at the end of the day its for a good cause.  For those of you who don’t know much about red nose day then here is brief take on it which i took from there website.

Red Nose Day is, quite simply, a day like no other! We take some fantastic fundraising in schools, offices and homes across the land, mix it with the nation’s favourite celebrities getting up to all kinds of mischief, sprinkle a new Red Nose (or three!) across the entire UK and add a cracking night of comedy on BBC One to make Red Nose Day the phenomenon it is.

In a nutshell, when you raise cash for Comic Relief, not only will you have a great time, you’ll also change someone’s life for good. From helping a child growing up with domestic violence, a dad living with mental health problems or a lonely older person with dementia living down the road in the UK, to supporting orphans and desperately poor communities in Africa – your cash really does make a difference to their lives.

Alex Maine - RND09Now I’m not rich but i can spare a couple quid for a good cause and if we all did this i am sure we can make a significant difference. I am one of these people who hate collectors on streets trying to get you to sign up for 6 or 7 pounds a month to save a child here there and everywhere, or a blind dog that has 1 one leg, but red nose day is different they provide us with a little light entertainment and some fun and we all get into the spirit of helping. I have done a fair amount of fundraising over the past 4 or 5 years and some charities don’t even thank you for it. Don’t get me wrong i am not doing it for that but the gesture would have been nice. With Comic Relief i find everyone is very thankful for every pound people put in. So make sure you pick up you red nose or digital red nose today. Just like i did. (What a horrible picture lol) You can find more  info about RND09 by visiting www.rednoseday.com
