Five Years of Awards [2/3]

Five years is a long time.. though I think we made more progress in 5 months than we did in 5 years. The Pride of Central Somerset raised the bar for local award ceremonies. Today I wanted to share with you some thoughts from some of the team who worked on the POCS 2009. These are a few of the superb individuals that helped me make this project a success and to them I am extremely thankful.
My time working with the Pride of Central Somerset was an unforgettable experience; I worked as Stage Manager for the 2008/2009 Awards and also have the honour of presenting some of the awards myself. It was great to see all of these modern day unsung heroes finally being recognised for their contribution to society. The organizer, Alex Maine did a great job in making the whole event run smoothly, not to mention the amount of work that he put into to planning and setting up such a professionally run ceremony, and the rest of the team really pulled together to make it happen on the night. —Michael Horsfield
I had the privilege of performing & presenting 2 awards for the Pride of Central Somerset in 2009 to two amazing charities. The event was to give recognition and reward to those who have given so much of their own time to help others, and I was impressed with the contribution ordinary people make to society. To be a part of such an event made me feel even more proud to be living in Somerset! The night itself fitted the occasion very well, with the organiser, Alex Maine, putting on an extremely entertaining and heart-warming night for everyone involved. It was a thoroughly enjoyable evening. —Georgina Bates
One of the best things I did in 2009 was assisting Alex and the team of Pride of Central Somerset as Backstage Support. I was a little nervous when I agreed to it, as the last time I worked with him I was much younger. Alex and everyone else on the team were really easy to get along with. Everything just seemed to flow. My only regret is that I did not become involved before the point at which I did. It couldn’t really have been for a better cause (I nearly cried listening to a couple of the speeches made by the award winners!). So, basically I just want to say, I am truly grateful! I would certainly do it again! —Rhiannon Hope
