About Alex Maine
Who is Alex Maine?
With over 7 years of experience in events in the United Kingdom & Canada, Alex has the vision to move from concept to creation. His wide experience across a full range of events makes his skills a valuable asset to any production. Alex was born and raised in the United Kingdom, in the county of Somerset, England. He attended Crispin School of Street and went on to study Information Communication Technology, Photography, Music Technology & Media Studies at Strode College.
Alex has directed and produced several large variety productions, including the Somerset Variety Performance 2004/2005 and the National Variety Performance. As Managing Director of the National Variety Performance, Alex oversaw every part of the events that were produced, from concept design to technical drafting. Following his work with the National Variety, Alex launched several projects under the umbrella of his former organisation. One of these projects was a county awards scheme that has now been presenting awards in prestigious award ceremonies in the United Kingdom for 5 years.
Experience in Nova Scotia:
This ambitious young events manager arrived in Halifax 2 years ago, and brings an international feel and fresh thinking to all his events. Alex quickly involved himself in Nova Scotia events, having worked as Zone Supervisor for the Tall Ships in 2009 and organized the Pre-Volunteer Mixer for the Blue Nose Marathon last year at the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic. He now sits on the board of chairs for the Blue Nose Marathon in charge of Awards Distribution. Recently he launched his first trans-Atlantic project. He is introducing one of his UK events, which is known in the UK as the Pride of Somerset, and here as the Haliwards. It‘s an awards ceremony nominated by the people of HRM, for the people of HRM. The event was held at the Maritime Museum on April 17th.
Community Involvement
One key part of Alex’s work is the community. For the past 5 years Alex has dedicated many of his projects to ‘give back’ to the community. Alex was recently invited to Dalhousie University to give presentations to the theatre students about his experience with large productions and how the world of event business works. He enjoys sharing his enthusiasm and stories with other young talent.
