Night of the Bands
The event took place in February of 2004 at Strode Theatre in street. Alex was the main organiser for the event. The event was to find a new and upcoming band to perform at Glastonbury Festival. The festivals organiser Michael Eavis sat on the panel of judges.
Somerset Variety Performance 2004
This was Alex’s first variety show. It took place in July of 2004 and had a selection of performers from across Somerset including the Glastonbury School of Dance and the Somerset Jazz Group. The event was hosted in Glastonbury to an audience of 200.
Somerset Variety Performance 2005
Due to the variety shows success in 2004 the project was upsized and new performers were introduced. They included the South West School of Dance & the Glastonbury & Street Drum and Trumpet Core. This project led to the launch of the national variety.
National Variety Performance
Alex was the MD for this organisation for just short of 2 years. During his time as Managing Director, several large stage productions were produced, singers were coached and helped with their career and countless auditions took place. the bulk of work happened in Weymouth, Dorset.
Somerset County Awards 2006
The Somerset County Awards (SCA) was an event showing appreciation for local peoples efforts towards charities and other good causes. This event was one of the events which was part of the NVP which became its own branch due to its success.
Somerset County Awards (Winter Edition)
Even though this project had no ceremony the awards were still presented. It worked in the same format as the SCA did earlier in the year. We handed out numerous awards to groups including Wells City Band. This project was introduced because we couldn’t fit in all the awards in one ceremony.
Weymouth Factor
As the title says the event took place in Weymouth. People from across the area were invited to perform in front of a panel of judges to win the chance to sign a 2000$ performer contract with AMEM Limited. Some of the winners headed north for a photo-shoot then back to Weymouth for their debut performance.
Pride of Central Somerset 2009
The POCS is the relaunch of the SCA. Its the same idea with a number of a few alterations. This project was in partnership with Mid Somerset News and Media. Awards were given to 17members of the local community. Performances from Wells City Band, Poppy Lopez and Gerogina Bates.
Blue Nose Marathon: Pre-Mixer
The Scotiabank Blue Nose marathon Pre-Mixer at the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic. Attended by the Mayor of Halifax, Peter Kelly. Alex stepped in to help the events several weeks before due to technical and management issues. Alex also hosted the evening.
Tall Ships Nova Scotia 2009
Alex was the Zone 5 Shore-side Operations Supervisor during the festival. The event took place in Halifax and Dartmouth during July. The festival hosted 50 vessels from around the world and was visited by thousands. The event lasted 3 days.
Haliwards 2010
The inaugural year of the Haliwards. The award ceremony took place at the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic on Saturday April 17th. Seven awards were presented in a prestigious ceremony to local people and organisations. The project is now prepping for year two.
Pride of Central Somerset 2010 (Under Production)
Works the same as before but with a number of new ideas. This time not in partnership with Mid Somerset News and Media. Partner to be announced shortly
Scotiabank Blue Nose Marathon
The Marathon has a variety of events for all fitness levels – walkers or runners. From the 4.2k Youth run to the 42.2k Full Marathon. Alex coordinated Pasta Village, Awards Distribution and the Post Race Party.
Maritime Saga (Under-Production)
A new project launching soon to find talent in Nova Scotia, Canada.
